What is the ruling on remaining engaged and refusing the bride's family's request for singing and music at the wedding, knowing that the girl is religious and the suitor desires her?

Be keen on the religious girl who memorizes the Quran and performs night prayers, and seek help, both you and her, through fervent supplication to Allah to open the hearts of her family. Strive to prevent forbidden music at the wedding celebration, and discuss with the girl's family wisely, explaining that announcing the marriage is recommended, and beating the duff (tambourine) by women, away from men, is sufficient for this purpose. Adhere firmly to obedience to Allah, for it is the most successful means of fulfilling needs, and deviation from it is a cause of deprivation, in confirmation of His saying, the Almighty: "And fear Allah that you may succeed," and His saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, a man may be deprived of provision because of a sin he commits," and "Let not the slowness of provision lead you to seek it by disobeying Allah, for Allah's bounties are attained only through obedience to Him." If the family agrees to adhere to the Sharia, then praise be to Allah. If they dissolve the engagement because of your adherence to your religion, then trust that Allah will compensate you with something better than her, according to His saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, you will not abandon anything for the sake of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, except that Allah will replace it with something better for you."
