What is the ruling on supporting sports clubs?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A Muslim must adhere to seriousness in life and avoid matters that harm them in their religion and worldly affairs, especially those that distract them from the worship of Allah. What distracts from obligations or leads to something forbidden becomes forbidden. What distracts from recommended acts but does not lead to something forbidden is disliked. What does not distract from anything remains permissible. The state of fans indicates their severe distraction from their duties. If the matter reaches this level of distraction and abandonment of duties, then cheering becomes forbidden, especially with what accompanies it of emotional attachment, love, hate, loyalty, and enmity.
