If the mother's vow was an act of devotion to God, and what she vowed was more than she owned, she should give as charity one-third of what she possessed on the day of the vow. If she did not own anything beyond her needs, then she must offer an expiation for an oath (kaffarat yamin).

However, if it was an expiatory vow or a vow made in anger (tying the vow to a condition with the intent to prevent something or compel an action), then an expiation for an oath (kaffarat yamin) is sufficient in all cases. The fasting she performed absolves her if she was unable to fulfill the remaining aspects of the expiation.

Contributing to the fulfillment of the mother's vow is not obligatory upon the children.
