Is it confirmed that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was afflicted by magic?

The Hadith about the Prophet being afflicted by magic (sihr) is authentic, narrated by Al-Bukhari, Muslim, and others. It has been accepted by the Ahl al-Sunnah (Sunnis), and none have rejected it except innovators (mubtadi'ah). 'A'isha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet was so affected by magic that he imagined he was doing something when he was not. He learned its location through a vision, and the magic was then extracted from the well of Dharwan. Scholars have refuted those who deny this Hadith, emphasizing that magic is an illness that afflicts human beings, and its affliction upon the Prophet does not detract from his prophethood or his infallibility in conveying the message. Rather, its effect was limited to worldly matters, such as his imagining that he had approached his wives when he had not. This was a temporary ailment that disappeared and did not affect the truthfulness of what he conveyed from Allah.
