Is the one who turns away from the arrival of proof and persists in his tyranny still excused by ignorance?

Turning away from learning what is necessary for a Muslim to learn is forbidden. Seeking sacred knowledge is a communal obligation (fard kifayah), except for what is specifically incumbent upon an individual, which then becomes an individual obligation (fard ayn). He whom Allah does not intend good for will not gain understanding in the religion. However, whoever has not had the evidence established against them is excused for committing apostasy if what they do is indeed apostasy. As for one to whom the evidence has reached, but they turn away from it, they fall under a different ruling and are not excused. The ignorance for which a person is excused is ignorance of the truth and not mentioning it. Denouncing someone as an apostate (takfir) is a serious matter, and it must be left to scholars and sharia judges.
