What are the matters for which ignorance is an excuse, and those for which it is not, and what is the worldly ruling on the perpetrator in terms of disbelief and Islam?

Ignorance of an act of disbelief (kufr) is of two types. The first is when it comes from a person who does not embrace Islam. Such a person is subject to the apparent rulings of this world, but in the afterlife, his matter is with Allah Almighty, and the preponderant view is that he will be tested. The second type is when it comes from a person who embraces Islam but lived upon an act of disbelief and it never occurred to him that it was a transgression. Such a person is subject to the apparent rulings of Islam, and his matter in the afterlife is with Allah. The fundamental principle is that whoever attributes himself to Islam remains Muslim until his apostasy is confirmed by an Islamic legal proof. And the ignorant person is excused for what he says or does that may constitute disbelief or immorality.
