Is wearing elegant, loose-fitting, and modest clothing, even if it has some embroidery or bright, shiny colors, in a society where this is considered modest and beautiful attire, a sin that warrants God's displeasure and the non-acceptance of prayers and supplications, especially if the intention is not to attract attention or cause temptation (fitna)?

The permissible attire for a woman should not in itself be an adornment. It is not permissible to wear embroidered clothes or those with bright, sparkling colors in front of non-mahram men. A woman is forbidden from anything that incites temptation and lusts. A Muslim woman must hasten to replace such clothes with permissible attire that is not eye-catching or adorned. She may adorn herself as she wishes in her home in front of her mahrams and other women. She must go to great lengths in her adornment for her husband. As for gradualism in abandoning forbidden adornment, it is not permissible; rather, it must be abandoned immediately in compliance with Allah's command.
