The answer

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, married eleven women: Khadijah, Aisha, Sawdah, Hafsah, Zaynab bint Khuzaymah, Umm Salamah, Zaynab bint Jahsh, Juwayriyah, Umm Habibah, Safiyyah, and Maymunah. He passed away while he had nine wives. This large number of wives was one of his unique characteristics, peace and blessings be upon him, and it served several wisdoms, including:

The Educational and Communicative Wisdom: The multiplicity of wives helped in conveying the Prophet’s states, sayings, and actions to the Ummah. The Social Wisdom: Strengthening his ties with the various clans of Quraysh and uniting hearts around him. The Political Wisdom: Enhancing his status among the people of different tribes through marriage alliances. Demonstrating the Perfection of His Character: His ability to manage the affairs of wives of different ages, environments, and social backgrounds with justice and wisdom.

Each wife resided in a separate room adjacent to the Prophet's Mosque.
