How authentic is the Hadith attributed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): "Whoever picks up a morsel of food that fell from him onto the ground while eating, Allah will grant him very wonderful children"? And if it is authentic, what is the connection between picking up food and wonderful children?

Islamic Sharia encourages respect for Allah's blessings, including food, as Allah Almighty commanded gratitude after consuming it. Manifestations of gratitude for the blessing of food include respecting it, not discarding it, and preserving it from spoilage, which has been emphasized by religious texts and juristic fatwas. If a morsel falls, it is sunnah to remove any impurity from it and eat it, rather than leaving it for Satan, as this entails obeying the Prophet's (PBUH) command, showing humility, depriving Satan, and attaining blessings. This etiquette is not limited to food that falls on the ground but also includes what falls on the dining cloth.

One must be cautious of fabricated hadiths that exaggerate the virtues of picking up fallen food, such as protection from poverty, leprosy, and elephantiasis, or warding off foolishness from children, as all of these are denounced and false.

As for kissing bread and placing it on the forehead when picking it up from the ground, scholars differ on this matter; some consider it a permissible or good innovation (bid'ah), while others prohibit it, and this is the more sound opinion, as inanimate objects should not be kissed unless there is a specific religious text permitting it, such as kissing the Black Stone.
