Is it true that a plate calls for licking, and that throwing food in the bin is a great sin, and that throwing food in the trash will deprive us of this blessing later on?

The hadith that refers to the dish seeking forgiveness for the one who licks it was narrated by its meaning, and Al-Albani graded it as weak. However, preserving food and not wasting it is a great principle in Islam. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded eating a fallen morsel after removing any dirt from it, and swallowing what is in the plate. Throwing food into the trash is a forbidden extravagance and a waste of money. Rather, it should be eaten or given to the poor or to animals. As for a morsel found on the road, one should remove any dirt from it and eat it if it is good, or give it to an animal, or remove it from the road. There is no explicit evidence that insulting a blessing removes it, but extravagance and wasting money expose a person to God's punishment.
