What is the ruling on raising a dog inside the house to live in it in a European country?

It is not permissible to keep a dog except for hunting or guarding purposes. It is not permissible to bring a dog to entertain and amuse a child. Birds or fish can be brought for this purpose, while also occupying the child with memorizing the Holy Quran and benefiting from useful and entertaining programs on the computer.
