Is the dog pure, and is it permissible to keep it inside the house without the wife's consent?

Dogs are considered impure by the majority of scholars, and owning them is not permissible except for a legitimate need, such as hunting, guarding livestock, or protecting crops. Bringing them into homes is contrary to Islamic law. What the husband does by raising a dog inside the house is a reprehensible act. The wife should avoid helping him and should admonish him gently, reminding him of the rulings of Islamic law. If he does not obey, then the sin is his alone, not the wife's, as he is the maintainer of the marital home.
