What is the explanation of the Hadith: "The best property of a Muslim will soon be sheep which he will take to the tops of mountains and to the places of rainfall, fleeing with his religion from afflictions (Al-Fitan)" and who are "Al-Mawtuifat"?

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A time will soon come when the best property of a Muslim will be sheep which he will take to the tops of mountains and to the places of rainfall, fleeing with his religion from tribulations." This indicates the superiority of isolation when there are tribulations from which one fears for one's religion. The Salaf agreed on the virtue of isolation for one who fears for his religion, though they differed on the principle of isolation itself. The preferred view is to favor mingling for one who does not predominantly expect to fall into sin. However, if there is a widespread tribulation, then isolation is more appropriate.
