What is the ruling on someone whose soul speaks ill to them in the Haram?

If it is merely a self-whisper (hadith al-nafs), its doer will not be held accountable for it. However, a Muslim must repel these thoughts so that they do not lead to a statement or action for which the Muslim would be sinful. Sin in the Haram (sanctuary of Mecca and Medina) is multiplied, just as good deeds are multiplied.
