Does a person earn a reward equal to or greater than that of a supererogatory prayer when reading beneficial books of knowledge, or when recording and memorizing knowledge?

Seeking knowledge is one of the best ways to draw closer to Allah. Allah commanded His Prophet to seek more knowledge, saying: "And say, 'My Lord, increase me in knowledge.'" The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified the virtue of seeking knowledge, saying: "O Abu Dharr, that you go forth and learn one verse from the Book of Allah is better for you than praying a hundred rak'ahs. And that you go forth and learn a chapter of knowledge, whether it is acted upon or not, is better than praying a thousand rak'ahs."
