How does a student of knowledge benefit from what he has learned of Sharia knowledge?

Seeking sacred knowledge is obligatory. Among the means of acquiring it are: reciting the Qur'an with contemplation, along with beautifying one's voice when reciting it, and listening to it from those with pleasant voices. To benefit from the Qur'an, one must gather one's heart during its recitation and listening, giving full attention and presence of heart, for the Qur'an is a discourse from Allah to the believers. It is also essential to combine contemplating the Qur'an with studying books of Hadith (definition) concerning encouragement (targhib), discouragement (tarhib), and softening of hearts (raqa'iq), to invigorate the soul for obedience and deter it from disobedience. Furthermore, one must acquire a deep understanding of the rulings of acts of worship, their conditions, pillars, and nullifiers, from books that prioritize evidence. Indeed, beneficial knowledge is that which leads to the knowledge of Allah, what He loves and is pleased with, and what He dislikes and is displeased with, thus instilling His glorification, love, and awe, and prompting one to hasten to what pleases Him and distance oneself from what displeases Him.
