Is weakness of certitude considered a rejection of the acceptance of seeking forgiveness, supplication, and Ruqyah? Is returning to God in times of hardship and neglecting to thank Him in times of ease considered hypocrisy? What is the remedial advice for struggling against whisperings (waswas), anxiety, and fear? And how can one reassure the heart upon sleeping and waking up?
A Muslim's fear of hypocrisy indicates the life of their heart and their eagerness for their faith, which is a commendable matter. Continue to strive against your self and heart by adhering to acts of obedience and avoiding sins, for acts of obedience strengthen the connection with Allah, while sins harden the heart and lead to heedlessness. Seeking refuge in Allah during hardships is not hypocrisy if a servant maintains their obligatory duties in ease and in adversity. Languor is natural, but one must maintain a minimum of acts of obedience and avoid prohibitions. The languor that leads one to abandon obligatory duties or commit prohibitions is blameworthy and dangerous; it is practical hypocrisy. The believer strives to purify their heart through remembrance (dhikr), supplication (du'a), and righteous deeds. Tranquility and steadfastness require patience and learning, and they are achieved through trust in Allah, good reliance, and certainty that the world is full of calamities, along with reading the biographies of prophets and righteous people. The verses of tranquility have a great effect on the heart's serenity and peace, and their effectiveness has been proven during times of hardship and fear.
