The answer

Sorcery is a grave sin that incurs the wrath of the Lord, and it may even constitute apostasy and disbelief. It is a reality according to the Sunnis, and it can affect bodies with illnesses, death, or madness, but it does not alter fundamental realities. Going to sorcerers and charlatans is forbidden. Whoever goes to a diviner and asks him something, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days. And whoever believes him has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad. As for going to a shaykh who performs lawful ruqyah, that is a legitimate form of treatment.
