The answer

It is not within our purview to know how sorcery works, but its annulment is achieved by extracting and destroying it, or by inducing vomiting in the affected area of the sorcery. Among the means of annulling it is lawful (Islamic incantation). One must avoid incantations whose meaning is not understood, due to the possibility of falling into polytheism () through them. Every unknown name is impermissible for use in Ruqyah. What is not understood from incantations may contain shirk. Non-Arabic and incomprehensible incantations whose meanings are not understood, and which are not found in Islamic law, are whisperings from Satan, and fall under the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, incantations (ruqa), amulets (tama'im), and love-charms (tiwala) are shirk."
