The fundamental ruling regarding images of living beings is that they are forbidden, whether they are three-dimensional (statues) or two-dimensional (drawings/photographs). This prohibition pertains to the act of imaging itself, regardless of whether the image is of scholars or animals. The prohibition becomes even more severe if the images include violations of Islamic law, such as pictures of naked women, or images of promoters of corruption like actors and singers. This is due to the increased sin and their effect on corrupting hearts. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade angels from entering a house in which there is a dog or an image. What is forbidden to possess is also forbidden to sell, buy, and waste money on.
