Is it forbidden for a merchant to import and sell women's and children's clothing bearing images of celebrities? Is the gain from it considered unlawful? And what should he do with the merchandise he has if selling it is forbidden?

It is forbidden to wear anything that contains images of animate beings, whether humans, birds, or animals. The prohibition becomes more severe if the images are of unveiled women or revered non-Muslim figures, due to the general evidence against imagery and the fact that angels do not enter a house that contains images. This is also because the Prophet (peace be upon him) tore down the curtain that contained images. Selling these items is also forbidden, for when Allah prohibits something, He also prohibits its price. Whoever possesses merchandise of such clothing must return it to its source, exchange it for something else, or forgo some of its value.
