The question

What is the Sharia ruling on an employee taking a percentage from a client he brought to the company, by dividing a financial amount that is in excess of the actual service price, without the knowledge of the manager or the client, especially given that the employee believes his salary is not commensurate with his effort and that his manager undervalues him? What should he do if he has already spent the money, and must he return it? What is the ruling on dealing with clients who request fake invoices or a percentage of the amount? What is the ruling on someone who wants to charge his company for staying in a five-star hotel while he will stay in an apartment at a lower cost and keep the difference?

The answer

It is not permissible to assist trainees in cheating, lying, and falsifying invoices to be more than their real value, as this constitutes cooperation in sin and aggression. The sin increases if the helper receives a percentage for this. One must repent to Allah and refrain from this act. There should be no fear of a livelihood being cut off, for sustenance is ordained and predetermined. Money earned from falsifying invoices must be returned to its rightful owners. If one is unable to do so and does not know them, then it should be spent for the benefit of the Muslims. If the company owner wrongs you and withholds your rights, it is permissible for you to take the amount of your confirmed right from his money, without excess, provided that no greater harm results from it. It is not permissible for an employee or trainee to charge the company for accommodation in a five-star hotel while staying in a cheaper apartment, as this involves lying and cheating.
