What are the best Sharia-compliant and healthy methods for birth control?

It is permissible to use contraceptives for birth control if there is a need, according to Islamic regulations. Coitus interruptus (al-azl) is one of the best methods for birth control, and it has been approved by the Sharia. In Sahih Muslim, Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "We used to practice coitus interruptus while the Quran was being revealed... If there had been anything forbidden about it, the Quran would have forbidden us from it."
