The question

Is there a Prophetic Hadith stating that deceased relatives and kin rejoice and are gladdened by good deeds, and if not, they say: "O Allah, do not let them die until You guide them as You have guided us," and what is its source (book name, Hadith number, and page number)?

The answer

In Imam Ahmad's Musnad, on the authority of Anas ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, your deeds are presented to your deceased relatives and kinsfolk. If they are good, they rejoice at them; and if they are otherwise, they say: 'O Allah, do not let them die until You guide them as You have guided us.'" The chain of narration for this hadith is weak due to the presence of an unknown narrator, and it was deemed weak by Al-Haythami, Al-Arna'ut, and Al-Albani. This hadith can be found in Volume 3 of Imam Ahmad's Musnad, under the Musnad of Anas ibn Malik.
