How is Surat Al-Fatihah recited behind the Imam, and does the correct recitation include waiting for the Imam to finish reciting the verse and then reciting it?

It is better for the ma'mum (congregant) to recite Al-Fatihah after the imam (prayer leader) has finished reciting it, so that the congregant can listen attentively to the imam's obligatory recitation. If that is not possible, the congregant should recite it concurrently with the imam. It is sunnah (recommended) for the imam to pause in audible prayers for a duration sufficient for the congregant to recite Al-Fatihah. As for the congregant reciting Al-Fatihah in fragmented parts with the imam at the beginning of verses, no scholar has ever held this view.
