What happened on the day of Ashura, and why was it given this name?
The day of Ashura is the day Allah saved Moses (peace be upon him) from Pharaoh. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fasted on it and commanded its fasting because he was more entitled to Moses than the Jews who used to fast it. As for the reason for its naming, it has not been proven that it is due to the occurrence of ten events on it.
