What events occurred on the commemoration of Ashura?

Fasting the day of Ashura was legislated because Allah saved Moses and his people from Pharaoh and his host on that day. Moses fasted it in gratitude to Allah, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, fasted it and commanded its fasting because he was more deserving of Moses than the Jews.
