How should a girl deal with her angry father who despises her opinions? And must she always please him or apologize to him every time he gets angry? And is she considered disobedient if he describes her as such? And does filial piety mean humiliation to one's parents?
The right of a parent over his child is great. He should be treated with good manners, reverence, humility, and gentle speech. Obedience to both parents is obligatory in what is good. So, if they command something that does not involve disobedience to Allah, nor harm to the child, and benefits them, then obedience to them is obligatory, even if it involves hardship. If you have angered your father by disobeying him, you must repent, apologize, and seek his رضا, for disobedience to parents is one of the gravest sins. Know that honoring your father and striving to gain his رضا is not weakness but strength, and your humility and deference to him are a source of honor, elevation, and dignity. Filial piety is among the greatest reasons for Allah's رضا and entering Paradise.
