How can Zakat al-Fitr be given out given the comprehensive curfew from Ramadan 17 until after Eid al-Fitr, and is it permissible to give it out today, Ramadan 16, or must it be given out after Eid?

Zakat al-Fitr is to be given out one or two days before Eid. It is permissible to give it out from the beginning of Ramadan. It is recommended to give it out before the Eid prayer, and it is permissible to delay it until sunset on the day of Eid, though this is disliked. Whoever delays it after sunset on the day of Eid has sinned and must still make it up. It is permissible to appoint an agent to distribute Zakat and to pay the agent, even at the beginning of the month, provided that the agent distributes it on the day of Eid or one or two days before it. Zakat should be given directly to the poor, or through a trustworthy intermediary. If there is a pressing need, it is permissible to give it out early, before the 17th of Ramadan.
