There is no harm in eating the food of the People of the Book, nor what they slaughter or hunt, because Allah the Almighty says: "This day [all] good foods have been made lawful for you. And the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you." It is permissible to eat from their slaughtered animals if they mention the name of Allah over them, or if the situation is unknown, unless it is known that they mentioned a name other than Allah over them. Similarly, there is no harm in accepting their gifts or giving gifts to them for a benefit, without affection or love.
