Is the Farewell Tawaf obligatory for the pilgrim performing Umrah upon leaving Mecca?

The Farewell Circumambulation (Tawaf al-Wada') is obligatory for those who have performed Hajj at the Sacred House of Allah when they depart, except that it is waived for menstruating women, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "No one should depart until his last act is circumambulating the House." As for the one performing 'Umrah, the Farewell Circumambulation is not obligatory for him; rather, it is sunnah (recommended) for him to do so, due to the absence of evidence for its obligation, and because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not perform the Farewell Circumambulation after 'Umrat al-Qada' (the Compensatory 'Umrah).
