Is a wife entitled to refuse repeated pregnancies due to her desire to raise her children well, and for health and psychological reasons, especially since the husband does not take responsibility for the children, and only desires pregnancy to beget a male, and vents his anger on the children for the most trivial reasons?
The husband must know that children, whether male or female, are a blessing that calls for gratitude, not resentment, and that disliking daughters is an ignorant trait contrary to Islamic law and ethics, as Allah Almighty says: "And when one of them is given good tidings of a female, his face remains dark, and he is filled with suppressed grief. He hides himself from the people because of the evil of what he has been given good tidings of. Will he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the dust? Unquestionably, evil is what they decide."
He must also know that marriage is based on tranquility, affection, and mercy, as Allah Almighty says: "And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your hearts. Verily in that are Signs for those who reflect."
The wife should forgive her husband and endure what she can for the benefit of the children and the family. It is permissible for her to delay pregnancy for legitimate reasons, such as raising children or performing the Hajj pilgrimage. As for the husband cursing, it is not his right, and the wife has the right to seek divorce in case of harm, but patience is better for the benefit of the children and the family.
