Marital life should be based on mutual understanding and respect, and consideration for the feelings of each party. The wife must obey her husband in what is good and permissible, and not in what harms her, for "there shall be no harm nor reciprocating harm." If a short interval between pregnancies causes harm to the woman or her child, the husband should not be stubborn. The woman should strive for fitness and pamper her husband as much as possible, and the husband should not abandon his wife without a legitimate reason. The wife is responsible for serving her husband internally, and the husband for serving externally, and they should cooperate in raising children and managing the household.
