Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was asked what the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to do in his house, and she said: "He was a human being among human beings; he would delouse his garment, milk his sheep, and serve himself."

Wives are partners with their husbands in life; they have rights and duties, and the husband has an additional degree because he is the maintainer of the family.

Women are not bondmaids to their husbands; rather, they are companions who have rights and are enjoined to kindness and good companionship. The meaning of the hadith: "Indeed, they are captives with you" means: prisoners. The intention is that a woman with her husband is like a captive in her weakness and in that her affair is in the hands of whoever captured her, and it is not intended to humiliate her. The husband's right over his wife is greater than her right over him, and he has guardianship over her.
