What is the ruling of the Shari'ah regarding a 21-year-old male undergoing a sex-change operation from male to female, given that he is attracted to young men, feels a strong desire to be a female and live her life completely, knowing that he suffers from depression, psychological distress, and suicidal ideation, and that the psychiatrist has informed him that there is no cure for his condition other than adaptation or transition, and that his family is almost convinced of his condition? And will he be able to live a normal life as a female after the transition?

Gender reassignment surgeries are a superficial alteration of organs, not a true change. These procedures are forbidden in Islamic law as they involve altering Allah's creation and deviating from the natural disposition (fitra). They are only permitted for individuals whose biological sex is ambiguous, in order to restore them to their natural state. If your male organs are normal, it is not permissible for you to undergo this surgery. Your psychological inclination towards the opposite sex does not justify it; rather, you must turn to Allah for psychological treatment. You must be content with Allah's creation and decree. If you are certain of your masculinity, then you must preserve it and thank Allah for it.
