What is the ruling on one who delays performing the Fajr prayer after remembering it without an excuse, given the existence of the initial excuse for delay, according to those who deem the one who abandons prayer an apostate, and according to the rest of the scholars?

Whoever forgets a prayer or sleeps through it, must make it up immediately upon remembering it or upon the cessation of his excuse. The proof for this is the prophetic hadith: "Whoever forgets a prayer, let him pray it when he remembers it, for there is no expiation for it except that." This indicates the obligation of immediate performance. What further confirms immediacy is that the default for a command is that it is for immediacy, and that the religious texts encourage hastening and taking initiative in good deeds. As for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, delaying the prayer in a valley after they woke up, it was a slight delay for a benefit related to the prayer, which was to move away from a place where Satan was present, not as an indication of the permissibility of slackness in making up prayers. Therefore, whoever delays making up a prayer must repent to Allah and hasten to make it up immediately upon remembering it or waking up, without procrastination.
