How are the two surahs of refuge recited, along with spitting and wiping, before sleep?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Every night, when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to bed, he would cup his hands together, then blow into them and recite "Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad" (Surah Al-Ikhlas), "Qul A'udhu bi Rabbil-Falaq" (Surah Al-Falaq), and "Qul A'udhu bi Rabbin-Nas" (Surah An-Nas). Then, he would wipe as much of his body as he could with his hands, starting with his head, his face, and the front of his body. He would do this three times.
