What is the criterion for impure things with which the Mushaf (copy of the Qur'an) may not be touched, and does this include both the paper and electronic Mushaf? Is it forbidden to touch the Mushaf with a dry impurity that does not transfer? Is it obligatory to remove food and drinks from in front of screens displaying the Qur'an or the names of Allah for fear of the transfer of impurity? Is the water that comes out of the nose after ablution considered impure, thus preventing the touching of screens displaying the Qur'an? Is it permissible to say that what is forbidden is touching the Mushaf with something ritually impure, not merely impure?

What is considered disgusting is that which is commonly repulsed by nature, and it is determined by custom if there is no specific legal ruling for it. Disgusting things, whether wet or dry, must be kept away from the Mus'haf (Quranic text). As for a television screen or a mobile phone, they do not have the ruling of the Mus'haf, even if the Quran appears on them. However, nothing that indicates disrespect should be placed upon them. Placing food in front of them does not necessitate caution, because the device is not a Mus'haf, and if something disgusting gets on it, it should be removed. The traces of food should be removed to maintain and respect what is displayed, while glorifying the Book of Allah without exaggeration or undue burden.
