Does a divorce, unintended yet uttered, take effect?

The occurrence of divorce is tied to the intention of uttering the divorce pronouncement. If a man intends to pronounce the word of divorce, his divorce occurs, even if he did not intend to dissolve the marital bond. However, if he did not intend to utter the word of divorce, but his tongue slipped inadvertently, then no divorce occurs. An exception is made for the person suffering from obsessive thoughts (waswās), for whom divorce does not occur even if he explicitly pronounces it.
