What is the ruling on watching TV series in Ramadan and at other times? What is the ruling on women appearing in them and acting with men? What are the conditions for a series to be free of religious prohibitions?

Most TV series contain forbidden elements such as immodest display (tabarruj), intermingling of sexes (ikhtilat), music, and romantic words. Some of them aim to Westernize society. Therefore, it is impermissible to watch them, whether in Ramadan or at other times. The ugliness of the sin increases in Ramadan. Fasting is not limited to abstaining from food and drink; rather, it includes the fasting of the limbs and the heart from what Allah has forbidden. We do not approve of women appearing on television, even as دعاة (callers to Islam), if they do not adhere to the hijab, so how can we approve of their appearance in TV series with immodest display? If TV series are free from forbidden elements and have a noble goal of reforming society, then there is no harm in watching them. However, such series are very rare.
