If a woman experiences an impediment (such as menstruation or postpartum bleeding) that extends until Ramadan (definition) begins, she is not required to pay an expiation (kaffarah (definition)) for delaying the make-up of the previous Ramadan's missed fasts. However, if the impediment ceases and she is able to make up the fasts but fails to do so without a valid excuse, then she is required to pay an expiation for the days she did not make up, despite her ability to do so.

She is not required to make up two days for one day, but rather only the days she missed.
