What is the ruling on returning to one's wife after her 'iddah has expired, knowing that the divorce probably occurred while she was menstruating?

Divorce during menstruation is valid according to the majority of scholars, and therefore, the issued divorce is effective. If the waiting period (iddah) has ended, there is no way to reconcile except through a new marriage contract.
