How is the inheritance divided if the deceased left one daughter and one full brother?

If the deceased leaves no heirs other than a daughter and a full brother, the daughter receives one-half as a prescribed share, based on the Almighty's saying: "And if there be one daughter, she receives half." The remainder goes to the full brother by way of ta'sib (residuary heirship). Thus, the inheritance is divided into two halves: one half for the daughter and one half for the full brother. It is advised not to divide the inheritance without consulting the Sharia courts.
