What is the wisdom behind the Prophet's marriage to Lady Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, when she was nine years old, and did he consummate the marriage with her at this age?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, married Aisha after Sawda bint Zam'a. Aisha was the only virgin he married, and he consummated the marriage with her when she was nine years old. Among her virtues is that divine revelation (Wahy) did not descend upon him while he was under the cover of any other woman. She was the most beloved of creation to him, and her innocence was revealed from above the seven heavens. She was the most jurisprudent and knowledgeable woman in the Ummah.

As for the reasons for his marriage to her after the death of Khadijah and the Year of Sorrow, they include: a dream the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had, and what he saw in her of intelligence and astuteness to transmit his affairs, and his intense love for her father, Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, and the harm he endured.

It is noteworthy that in the Prophet's marriages, peace and blessings be upon him, he married young women and elderly women, daughters of enemies and friends, which indicates that his intention was not lust, but rather to legislate proper conduct with various human models. As for the issue of her young age, early puberty was common in hot countries, and women's physical readiness varies. The fact that she was the only virgin negates the accusations of lust promoted by disbelievers.
