Is it permissible for a Muslim woman to marry someone who celebrates the Prophet's Birthday (Mawlid), and is the one who does so considered a Muslim?

The ruling on the Mawlid (celebration of the Prophet's birthday) is that it is an innovation (bid'ah). However, the one who performs it may reach polytheism (shirk) if they commit acts that take them out of the fold of Islam, such as invoking other than Allah. Otherwise, they are a transgressor (fasiq), and their transgression varies according to the violations they commit. It is not permissible to marry such a person if they commit acts of disbelief.

If their innovation does not reach the point of disbelief, scholars have warned against marrying people of innovation. A transgressor is not a suitable match for a righteous Muslim woman. The woman or her guardians have the right to request the annulment of the marriage contract if his transgression becomes apparent after the contract.

The marriage of a woman to a Muslim man who is among the people of innovation is strongly disliked due to the resulting harms and the disruption of many benefits.
