How should Muslims deal with their non-Muslim relatives who mistreat and disrespect them?

Praise Allah for the blessing of a close-knit family, and appreciate this blessing. Strive to console your wife and stand by her against the harm inflicted by her family. Advise your wife to be patient with the harm from her family, to invite the least harmful among them to the truth, and to minimize interaction with them, making visits short and purposeful if they are causing her harm. Indeed, a Muslim is not obligated to mix with disbelieving, harmful relatives, but rather strives to be patient with their harm and invite them to Islam.
