How does a new Muslim deal with his family who despises Allah, Islam, and the Messenger Muhammad, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him, and frequently curses Islam?

Islam has made it obligatory to honor and be kind to one's parents, even if they are disbelievers, based on the words of the Almighty: "And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him with hardship upon hardship, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in [this] world with kindness and follow the way of those who turn back to Me." It is obligatory to be kind to them and to try to introduce them to Islam with gentleness and wisdom, avoiding discussion when they are agitated or cursing the religion. One should win over their hearts with gifts and not reciprocate evil with evil, as this might be a cause for their guidance. One can start with the family member who is least hostile to Islam, while supplicating for their guidance and for one's own steadfastness, and ensuring to keep the company of committed Muslims.
