How can a new Muslim deal with his non-Muslim family who commit unlawful acts, while maintaining a good relationship with them, inviting them to Islam, especially during occasions that involve শরীয়াহ violations such as New Year's celebrations, drinking alcohol, and exchanging gifts during them?

One must honor one's parents and associate with them in kindness. It is not permissible to sit with those who are committing sins while they are doing so, such as drinking alcohol. Similarly, it is not permissible to participate with non-Muslims in their holidays or congratulate them on them, because it is among the rituals of their false religion. One should invite family members to Islam with wisdom, good counsel, and argument in the best way, with gentle words, and by supplicating for their guidance.
