Is it permissible for a man to cause his wife to break her fast during the day in Ramadan for the purpose of intercourse if his desire becomes excessively aroused?

It is not permissible to have intercourse with one's wife during the daytime in Ramadan. Whoever does so intentionally must make up for the fast (qada') and offer expiation (kaffarah). The same applies to the wife if she willingly complies. If he forces her to have intercourse, he must pay the expiation for both of them. As for one who engages in intercourse forgetfully or out of ignorance of its prohibition, being a recent convert to Islam or having grown up in an environment devoid of religious teachings, there is no qada' or kaffarah upon him, though it is more cautious for both of them to make up the fast. However, if a man's lust overwhelms him to the extent that he fears his testicles might burst and it cannot be alleviated except through intercourse, then it is permissible for him to invalidate his wife's fast through intercourse, and he must make up the fast (qada') but without kaffarah, provided that his lust cannot be alleviated except by it.
