What is the ruling on having sexual intercourse with one's wife during the daytime in Ramadan, knowing that I ate after it, thinking that my fast was invalidated?

It is not permissible for a fasting person to engage in sexual intercourse during the daytime in Ramadan. Whoever does so intentionally and knowingly has disobeyed Allah and invalidated their fast. They must repent, make up for the fast, and pay the major expiation in order: freeing a slave, if unable then fasting for two consecutive months, if unable then feeding sixty poor people, as stated in the Hadith of Abu Hurayrah which is agreed upon. They must also refrain from eating and drinking for the rest of the day out of respect for the sanctity of the month. As for the woman, her fast is invalidated, and she is obligated to pay the expiation if she consented, though there is a difference of opinion among scholars on this point.
